The Five Penguins You Meet in Heaven

For my dear friend, Shermin.


The ice was thinning. The blazing sun was like a blazing fireball in the sky. Sweat trickled down their feathers. Who knew penguins even sweat.

There were five of them, Layla, Chanel, Germaine, Leslie and Shermin, and they were best friends. They were all very different, but opposites attract, so naturally, they clicked.

Layla and Chanel loved to dress up despite the sweltering weather. Germaine preferred swimming around in the ocean blue although there were many fish nets around the areas she swam. Leslie spent her time under a rock due to sun allergies while Shermin, became the world’s famous rockstar and toured the world on backpacking trips.

The heat was on, soon, Layla and Chanel fell ill and passed away due to heat stroke. Germaine had gotten caught with a shoal of fish and sent to a world’s famous chef to be turned into scrumptious Penguin Stew. Leslie had gotten the sun allergies and died of them a few days later.

However, Shermin, was still indulging herself in safer activities around the world and having the time of her life. She was an adventurous and friendly penguin, and an extremely talented rockstar, therefore, many of her fans had a huge crush on her.

Soon, she found love.

Now all five penguins have rose to heaven. Yes, five. I can count. Shermin did not die, she lived happily ever after with her lover in a heaven she could call her own.

The End.

I love Shermin. (but I’m not her lover! HAHA)
